This event will the city save energy up to 120 mega watts in one hour.

Exactly at 20:30, Saturday, March 26, 2011, almost all the lights extinguished in the Jakarta area. This extinction as a form of action in commemorating Earth Hour.

VIVAnews.com monitoring, five icons in the capital are now extinguished. Namely Roundabout Hotel Indonesia and fountain, monument and fountain, water fountain near Arjuna Wiwaha Indosat, the Statue of Youth, City Hall, and related government buildings.

In addition, buildings such as the Grand Hyatt, Wisma BCA Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan Graha Mandiri in Imam Bonjol, and Wisma BNI 46 also extinguished the lights.

Earlier, Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, said the event would save the city energy up to 120 mega watts in one hour. "This is the equivalent of one power plant shut down or save 267.3 tonnes of CO2 and a national carbon can save up to 811 mega watts," said Fauzi Bowo in Jakarta.

Fauzi said it would launch a lifestyle environment of love starts from the City Hall office of DKI Jakarta. In the near future, the City Hall of Jakarta will be a pilot energy-efficient building or green building.

In addition to Jakarta, five other major cities are also supporting this event, among others, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Bali.

The Summit of Earth Hour 60 + will be held at City Hall of Jakarta, and Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo certainly be present at the event.
